Abstract
The German plant and machinery manufacturing sector is under increasing competitive pressure from abroad. Companies are focusing more and more on service-based business models, such as Product-Service Systems (PSS), which integrate products and services. Implementing a PSS business model can strengthen customer loyalty, generate new revenue streams and achieve sustainable efficiency gains. Despite these potential advantages, adoption of PSS business models remains limited as implementation is considered complex and risky.
This study uses a systematic literature review and expert interviews to explore how risk governance can support plant and machinery manufacturing companies in successfully implementing a PSS business model.
