Windkraft in Nordrhein-Westfalen: Einstellungen zu Akzeptanz, Beteiligung und Konfliktlösung

Abstract

This Working Report presents results of a survey in North Rhine-Westphalia reflecting attitudes of the population towards wind energy. The survey shows that climate protection measures, the Energiewende and the expansion of wind power meet with great approval among the population. In the case of wind energy, a benefit for the local community is preferred, at best through direct purchase of cheap electricity. In the case of planning new wind farms, detailed information is desired, with scientific information sources being trusted most. Typical information events are preferred, much less online formats. Half of the respondents would use a visualization app for smartphones. Financial participation, while strongly dependent on monetary incentives or a discounted electricity tariff, is also influenced by climate protection attitudes. Planning conflicts should be resolved through citizens' decisions, experts or town hall meetings. The results underline the importance of high-quality information, participation and neutrality for the acceptance of wind energy.
