Abstract
Pupils get the chance to acquire a wide range of musical competences as well as a large specialised knowledge through extracurricular activities. As this does not apply to everyone, music classes often appear as rather heterogeneous. Although this situation is known for centuries, there barely can be found some publications which deal with specific experiences and beliefs of teachers concerning this topic.
As a result this qualitative interview study at hand makes its contribution to the research of heterogeneity in music lessons. On the basis of problem oriented interviews teacher’s beliefs in connection with heterogeneous groups of pupils will be reconstructed. Apart from belief systems of different handlings this publication’s focus is the development of a material theory.
