Abstract
For the transfer of knowledge in engineering we need a concept that meets the special requirements of highly innovative areas like micro system technology. Books tend to be outdated before they are published, and CBT tools are not well accepted due to little flexibility and high cost.
In this thesis an advanced knowledge transfer concept is presented. The key point is the integration of different media types into the education process: print media, CD/DVD, and a web based software system. First, correlation between prospective users, their requirements and the different media type is analysed. A second point is the requirement of using public domain or, concerning costs, equivalent tools, because the system is addressing Universities with their
continuous lack of funding. Available tools have been analysed and used as far as possible.
The implementation of the system was done at Siegen University, Institute of Micro System Technology. The initial phase was funded by the European project 'TRANSTEC'.
Various successful evaluations of learning environments showed that the system presented here fills a gap, which at this time cannot be covered by commercial tools on the market.
