Kommunen zwischen Resistenz, Resilienz und Akkommodation

The following article exemplifies how interactional linguistic and discourse linguistic procedures intertwine by comparing the interactional practice during a municipal event and the press coverage accompanying the event. The study is based on the participation format Vereinsfrühschoppen that takes place in the city of Viernheim on a regular basis. For this purpose, the concepts of political communication (2) and participation are first introduced and related to the object under consideration (3). Then, transcript excerpts from the on-site interaction will be considered and examined with a view to resistant, resilient, and adapting behaviour for the purpose of self-positioning on the part of the mayor and municipal administration (4). The examination of local press coverage provides an insight into the external perspective on the event and the on-site interaction in the local press (5). In a conclusion, interaction practice and press coverage are compared (6).
