Abstract
During this work investigations of the efficiency and durability of additives (water-retention, air-entraining and water-repellent agents) in rendering mortars were carried out. In further experiments their potential leaching were examined.
Dry ready-mixed mortars were produced in a laboratory scale with these additives in usual and increased amounts and stored at different conditions.
This thesis consists of three parts:
• Investigations of the phase and microstructure formation to obtain information about the influence of additives on the hardening processes of mortars.
• Determination of the efficiency of water-repellent agents and investigations of their inclusion in the binder matrix.
• Different leaching tests were performed to measure the liberation of additives in order to prove their relevance for the environment.
The experiments revealed that additives can influence hardening processes like the carbonation of rendering mortars. Special storage conditions (e. g. storage in water or deposition with CO 2 , SO 2 , NO x enriched atmosphere) decrease their efficiency. Further the leaching tests have shown that the stable inclusion and the small concentrations as well as the hydrophobic properties of some additives prevent a environmental impact.
