Abstract
According to the Boston Consulting Group, big data analytics are the third most important area that will have the greatest impact on industry over the next three to five years and should therefore be actively pursued (Ringel et al. 2018, p. 4). The question is how such analyses can be profitably integrated in order to generate a sustainable competitive positioning. In doing so, companies may encounter some challenges and sources of error, which will be examined in more detail in this paper against the background of the electronic value creation process according to Kollmann (2019). The aim of this thesis is to map sources of error in big data analytics in the field of e-commerce and to show how to deal with errors that have occurred and how to prevent errors in the value creation process.
