    This book documents 10 years of risk governance research at the University of Siegen. In 50 contributions, researchers and practitioners reflect on risk governance against the background of their own research and/or experience and provide a development impetus for the future of risk governance. The book shows the wide range and depth of the research field and discusses basic assumptions, implementation issues, the role of risk governance as transformation engine, its impact in the various operational functions, development perspectives, and the contribution of risk governance to a sustainable orientation of companies.

    Servitization aus Risk-Governance-Perspektive – ein risikobasierter Ansatz für die Veränderung von Geschäftsmodellen

    Der deutsche Anlagen- und Maschinenbau sieht sich einem zunehmenden internationalen Wettbewerbsdruck ausgesetzt. Unternehmen fokussieren sich daher vermehrt auf dienstleistungsbasierte Geschäftsmodelle, wie beispielsweise Produkt-Service-Systeme (PSS), welche Produkte mit Dienstleistungen verbinden. Die Implementierung eines PSS-Geschäftsmodells bietet die Aussicht auf eine verstärkte Kundenbindung, neue Erlösmodelle und nachhaltige Effizienzgewinne. Trotz dieser Vorteile ist die Verbreitung von PSS-Geschäftsmodellen noch begrenzt, da ihre Implementierung als komplex und riskant erachtet wird. Die vorliegende Untersuchung zeigt mithilfe einer systematischen Literaturanalyse und Experteninterviews wie die Risk Governance Unternehmen des Anlagen- und Maschinenbaus bei der erfolgreichen Implementierung eines PSS-Geschäftsmodells unterstützen kann.

    The German plant and machinery manufacturing sector is under increasing competitive pressure from abroad. Companies are focusing more and more on service-based business models, such as Product-Service Systems (PSS), which integrate products and services. Implementing a PSS business model can strengthen customer loyalty, generate new revenue streams and achieve sustainable efficiency gains. Despite these potential advantages, adoption of PSS business models remains limited as implementation is considered complex and risky. This study uses a systematic literature review and expert interviews to explore how risk governance can support plant and machinery manufacturing companies in successfully implementing a PSS business model.
